Explore Winnipeg from a different perspective! The Pain in the ASSiniboine is an exciting urban race beginning at the Forks Market participants cycle 32 km over a series roads, single track, park roads, and the famous Trans Canada Trail to reach beautiful Beaudry Park in Headingley, Manitoba. Then hop in your canoe (teams) or kayak (solo) & paddle 32km down the Assiniboine River, past some of Winnipeg's most elegant estates until you reach the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers to finish back at The Forks.

Racers (solo or team) must have a minimum of 1 support crew member to transport and pick up equipment from the transition zone at Beaudry Park.

Categories Explained 

Teams of 2: Teams of 2 people will be required to complete all disciplines of the race course and each member will carry all mandatory gear items throughout the entire race. Teams of 2 can be of any gender and all teams will be ranked in the same category. Each racer will ride their own bike and paddle in a canoe together.

Solos: Individual racers will be required to complete all disciplines of the race course and carry all mandatory gear items throughout the entire race. Solos will be separated into male and female categories. Racers must be 18 years of age to race solo. Racers may use a kayak OR solo canoe. Gender category may be combined at the director's discretion, in which case the top award will go to 1st place in each gender.

Open Team: Teams of 2 may register in this category and will be ranked as "open team". The mode of transport is flexible in this division and will be noted in the results. This category will be timed but will NOT be ranked. All bikes and boats must be human-powered.

Modes of transport acceptable in the OPEN category may include:

  • Tandem Bike
  • Tandem Kayak
  • SUP's
  • Voyageur Canoe

NOTE: The age limit for the team category is 16 yrs old. Remember this is a 4-6hr event & all racers under 18 must race with an adult guardian.

Teams and Solos must supply their own equipment and support crew.

** Entries are transferable but all entries are non-refundable. If you are unable to attend for any reason, you are responsible for finding an alternate. Please reach out to us if you need to swap your team registration **

  • If you cannot make the race, you may SELL your spot to another racer. See the next step for how you must complete this on your own before the race.
  • Registration is fully transferable -  (up until the Sunday before race day at 12 noon CST)
